Location: Remote/Hybrid (with availability to meet in-person as needed)
Contract Type: Independent Contractor
Hours: Part-Time, flexible schedule (to be determined based on caseload and clinic needs)
Compensation: Hourly rate or per-claim basis (to be agreed upon)

Position Summary

Therapeuo Mental Health seeks a Billing Professional (Contract) to manage all aspects of insurance and client billing. This independent contractor will ensure accurate claim submission, timely follow-up, and resolution of billing issues. The Billing Professional will work closely with clinic leadership and providers to maintain financial health and compliance with insurance and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately prepare and submit insurance claims (electronic and paper) in a timely manner
• Review provider documentation for billing accuracy and compliance
• Conduct insurance verification and authorization when needed
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims and resolve discrepancies
• Post payments and adjustments to client accounts
• Generate client invoices and manage payment collection
• Provide monthly financial and billing reports to clinic leadership
• Maintain knowledge of insurance regulations, payer requirements, and HIPAA compliance
• Communicate effectively with staff, providers, insurance representatives, and clients regarding billing matters

Qualifications

• Proven experience in medical/behavioral health billing, coding, and claims management
• Strong knowledge of mental health insurance policies and procedures (including Medicaid/Medicare and commercial payers)
• Familiarity with EHR systems
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and manage sensitive information

Contract Terms

• Independent Contractor (1099 status)
• Flexible work hours; workload may vary based on clinic volume
• Compensation based on experience, negotiated upon contract signing
