Position Description

The Plant Engineer is responsible for providing comprehensive and efficient support to the plant operations team. The role is heavily focused on troubleshooting and continuous improvement opportunities driven by the need and in response to actual results in Production, Maintenance, Shipping and Receiving and Quality departments.

Essential Functions:

  • Leads continuous improvement projects in production, quality, maintenance and warehouse
  • Evaluates, recommend and leads improvements resulting in better line performance
  • Analyses performance trends and conducts root cause corrective action to drive improvements
  • Participates in process of problem-solving in any department
  • Engages employees through a strong visual presence on the production floor
  • Participates in the development of metrics to validate the profitability and feasibility of the site
  • Actively participates in the optimization of the production lines and department work processes
  • Establish and document new methods and working procedures for all departments in the plant
  • Conduct monitoring of the CMOS system to ensure that no gaps exist
  • Lead implementation of special projects including capital work.
  • Will be responsible for plant projects in support of reducing electric and gas consumption and other environmental based goals.
  • Lead the facility’s safety improvement efforts to include but not limited to: working with regulatory agencies, compliance reporting, conducting risk assessments, developing safety process, etc.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork ability
  • Knowledge of plant systems, equipment, and maintenance
  • Awareness of new manufacturing technologies and equipment
  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment is required. 
  • Ability to both read and write PLC logic. Need a strong basis of understanding in Allen Bradley, 500 and 5000. Preferred classwork or certifications in support of.

Physical Demands:

  • May work long hours, including being on call on weekends and holidays
  • Physical: Continuously standing or walking. Regular requirements to lift/handle/carry material or equipment of moderate weight. May be exposed to heat, chemicals, and noise
  • Visual/Sensory: This position requires the regular need to give moderate attention with one or two senses at a time.
  • Work environment: Work and environment are very repetitive.
  • Climate: This position requires the incumbent to have the ability to work in ambient hot and/or cold seasonal environments.
